New things “in store” for the season

We had  a record crowd attend our first-of-the-season  Members Open exhibit reception on the 2nd, and were thrilled with the positive reactions about the show and the new Gift Shop displays.

Member artists who came by with their new season merchandise to consign noted the updates in display, assortment and overall organization of the Shop.  (If you haven’t yet dropped by, be sure to attend our upcoming new exhibit on September 6th, 5 to 7 pm.  Members are always welcome at our opening receptions and other events.)

Here is a summary of some of the new directions and upcoming activities for the TCA Gift Shop:

  • SUSTAINABLE AND EARTH-FRIENDLY MERCHANDISE.  By popular demand, we are expanding our selection of unique merchandise made from recycled materials that we call “earth-friendly”.  With the G7 Conference wrapping up, we are concerned — perhaps more than ever — about being responsible consumers.  We started with Crafty Couture (artist Gail Paulin) , our popular brand of high-end women’s clothing with custom jewelry made by Gail to match, all at low prices starting at $35.  We recently added It’s A Jenny Thing, a hand-made jewelry brand with “Aloha” style  by Hawaii native Jenny La’iana.  She uses sea glass, driftwood  and other wonders she dives for or finds along her state’s shores.  Check out her “beachy” display case in the Shop. We have other consignor artists committed to using recycled materials, and are always looking for new creations.  These consignors and others prove that that there is no artistic  compromise involved using recycled materials.
  • ESTATE ART RESALES.  Along the recycling theme, we are also always searching for collectors who wish to resell their art and jewelry.  Whether downsizing or planning their estate for heirs, art resales are increasingly popular with our local residents.  We provide a free appraisal based on recent international auction activities, price fairly and promote aggressively to ensure the best returns for our consignors.  We did very well with the Hugh Cabot resales last season (still many available) and are also now featuring Mata Ortiz pottery estate resales in mint condition and great prices.
  • TRUNK SHOWS.  Also by popular demand, we are expanding  the number of  vendors participating in our Fall Trunk Show starting Friday, November 29 and extending through the weekend and perhaps beyond, demand-depending.  This is your chance to buy Holiday gifts directly from the source, knowing you will be giving a one-of-a-kind memento of Tubac to friends and family.
