In these times when “normal” still seems far away, we reopened the Gift Shop with enhancements we are pleased to share!
First of all, we have a brand new checkout system. Thanks to a generous COVID-related grant, we were able to purchase new electronic systems to make all our transactions effortless and safe.
The new contact-less cashier includes plexi-screens and tap-card charge ports for our customers. This means that we never touch a customer’s credit card. Couple that with our handheld scanner, checkout has never been safer and faster. Our (always masked) Volunteers love it!
Our consigner artists also benefit from this new system where inventory additions are more accurate, and recent sales or trend reports can be issued on demand. We appreciate the patience our consigners have shown us as we transitioned to this better system!
Shoppers also are enjoying the wider layout of the Shop, with less inventory overall: a more relaxing and safe experience for everyone. Our assortment also includes more re-purposed, sustainable, earth-friendly and naturally-made items to meet shopper demand. To meet the needs of work or school-at-home families, we have also added more art and craft kits, puzzles and educational books to the shelves.
By popular request, we have re-launched our Pop-Up Patio Sales events on the fourth weekend of each month, starting on the 24th. Featuring our preferred vendors set up safely outside, now that the weather is cooling, these have a “festival feel” that makes shopping more fun!
Last but not least, we just added a free personal shopper service for Members where we help select and deliver gifts directly to their homes or cars, or even mail them direct to the recipient.
In all, the TCA Gift Shop has quickly adapted to the requirements and consumer behavior changes due to COVID to ensure we always provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our valued Staff, Volunteers and Customers.
